    IO Metro

I recently discovered a furniture store here in Dallas that I had no idea existed. It’s called IO Metro and has some very reasonable prices. They’re sort of like a Pier One, selling imports from around the world.

Not everything is a home run. But, they’ve got some really stylish pieces that are totally affordable. So, how can we complain?

Sadly, IO Metro doesn’t sell online. But they’ve got locations across running through the Bible Belt. Hopefully one near you.

    Madison Key West chair, $599

    Seagrass Coffee Table, $199

    Forget Ebay, Let’s Bonanzle!

I’ve been mourning the mess that Ebay has become for a couple of years now. Sure, there’s still Craigslist and Etsy, but I really missed Ebay. With the new Bonanzle, I don’t think I’ll have to miss Ebay anymore. The interface is clean and easy to use. Searching is much, much easier. And all that junk that infests Ebay isn’t there anymore.

It’s not just better for buying, though, it appears to be better for selling as well- no listing fees until 2010 and the final offer fees are quite low, as well.

All this awesomeness points to me being able to come out of mourning for Ebay! Go check out Bonanzle, if you were tired of Ebay as well. (Or even if you’re not. It’s pretty fab, really.)

    Pet Projects

Retail_openerThis month’s ReadyMade has seven great DIY pet projects that are absolutely adorable.

My favorite has to be the "jet-set" dog bed made from a suitcase (though I don’t know that I can find a suitcase big enough for my dog).

    DIY Bookcase Armoire

    20080510marthadesk

I like crafts. Even something simple like making my own wrapping paper. But when you live in a small space, leaving a bunch of paper or beads or ink out on your dining table isn’t very convenient. Then, neither is getting out and putting away all those craft materials every time inspiration strikes.

That’s why I fell in love with this DIY craft armoire I saw in a back-issue of Martha Stewart Living.

The piece is actually two  store-bought bookshelves attached with a hinge. The interior has been customized to accommodate a small desk area in addition to plenty of shelves for storing your materials.

When you’re done crafting, all you have to do is close the door to make things neat and tidy.
