The Wire Rack takes it’s queue from a simple household staple: the wire hanger. But what it lacks in complexity and creative product naming, it makes up for in style.
This You Stuff It Cargo Chair is a really cool idea that I think might quite literally be a pain in the butt. The simple wire frame is meant to be stuffed with whatever you need to get out of the way. A great idea, though it might be improved by adding an actually seat. I suspect that even those stuffed animals aren’t enough cushion and I dread to think of dropping my derriere onto the log version.
West Elm’s Fall collection includes office furniture designed in collaboration with the Pratt Institute. The pieces have a clean, mid-century feel. I particularly like their wall-mounted office organizer. The cork board, picture shelf and pencil holder hang on the included wood rail.
I love the idea of a fold-out desk. I just don’t think it would accommodate the giant pile of papers that I call a filing system. I’ll be sticking with my giant desk. But, if you’re more organized than I and looking for a space-saving work space, this one is great because it’s just $199.
The Need Not Arrange Anymore bookshelf is meant to prevent us from feeling the need to neatly organize our bookshelves according to some sort of logic. Instead, the books become part of an ever-changing work of art. If only they could do the same thing with my junk drawer.
I love my shoes more than almost any other inanimate object I own. I would love to store them in something as elegant and practical as this nesting shoe stand. Unfortunately, despite my intense desire to keep my heels in something as pretty as they are, the $150 price tag is just a little over the top.
I think I’ve used a total of five paperclips over the past five years. That doesn’t mean I’d be opposed to sitting some on my desk if I had an adorable paperclip holder like this.
I’m sort of a clutter bug. In spite of my best efforts I always end up leaving my keys, mail and about six cardigans strewn all over the house. And so I’ve realized that whatever my decorating dreams, it’s better to cave to practicality and design for better places to stash things. That’s why I’m glad to see being organized doesn’t have to be difficult and stuffy. It could be as easy as installing a few hooks on the bottom of some of my decorative shelving.
I think this might be the world’s most adorable magazine rack. The perfect place for it? In front of the fireplace, right next to your slippers.
PS - It’s only $81, which actually seems pretty cheap for this sort of thing.
