This Seed rug from Thomas Paul reminds me of the dandilion puffs we used to make wishes on as a kid.
I am so confused. I think this is the second time in the last few months that I’ve found myself liking something from Wal-Mart. Actually more than something - several things. Several dirt-cheap things. Chic things you could actually put in a house, not just a dorm room.
For example, this Parsons desk (above) is just $49 and comes in several colors. They also have Parsons side-tables, coffee tables and chairs at equally impressive prices.
And even though I strongly suspect that this tractor chair will hurt my behind, I really, really want it. And for $38, I’m thinking I’ll take the risk.
And this 60″x87″ zebra rug, in colors reminiscent of Jonathan Adler, is just $33!
As the owner of two very large dogs, I'm a huge fan of Flor. Because if my white bedspread were made of replaceable tiles, it would not be partially decorated with muddy dog prints right now.
And as a bonus to the complete practicality, Flor's carpet tiles are actually quite stylish.
I particularly like this quirky take on an old fashioned rose pattern. A six-tile rug is currently on sale for just $125.
I've now and again searched for an affordable zebra rug without much luck. Though a bold pattern, zebra has the amazing talent of functioning almost like a neutral.
So I was very pleased to find Urban Outfitters has a great, plush zebra rug that's under $250.
It's made of tufted wool and measures 5'x7', perfect for a living room.
Here’s another stylish, inexpensive rug from Urban Outfitters. I don’t shop they’re clothes section much, but I love to click over to their Web site every few weeks to see what’s new in their home furnishings department.
You can always count on UO for trendy, modern furnishings at prices that make it easy to justify switching up your decor every now and again.
This rug features a stylized peacock pattern in a lovely teal. It’s 60" in diameter and only $48.
There’s not a much more practical floor covering than Flor tiles. They’re modular and replaceable so one stain isn’t going to ruin you’re entire 8′x10′.
That, said, Flor’s designs can be a little on the boring side. They’ve started to spice things up lately, and just today, I found this Zebra Crossing tile on the CB2 Web site.
I’ve always wanted a zebra-print rug, but with a house full of dogs, I worried about mud tracks and other less mentionable stains. These might be the perfect solution.
Urban Outfitters has some really cute graphic-print rugs at extremely reasonable prices.
My favorites? The deco-inspired Flapper Dots 3′x5′ runner and the cute-but-daring Leopard Print 5′x7′.
3′x5′ Flapper Dots, $28

I was flipping through the West Elm catalog yesterday when this Wood Grain Rug caught my eye.
My favorite thing about it? It’s described as "carved soft wool pile."
I love rugs. I love dogs. My dog, Thora, loves to ruin my rugs. I’ve never owned one that she hasn’t sent to an early grave.
How does she ruin them, you ask? To be delicate, let’s just say that she has some tummy problems and my rugs seem to her the perfect outlet.
As a result, the only rugs I’ve owned in the last 5 years have remained behind closed doors in the office or guest room.
But, my rug-ban may be nearing an end. I ran across this gorgeous puzzle rug on Design Spotter. Well, technically it’s modular flooring in a rug design. It’s not only colorful, and playful. It’s also made of rubber.
