    Wanted: Vintage Gramophone

I spotted this vintage Gramophone in one of the interiors over at sfgirlbybay and wondered exactly how hard it would be to get ahold of one. I love the look of that big brass bell.  I managed to find a fantastic working Edison Phonograph (which plays wax cylinders) over at Etsy for $675.

If, like me, you don’t have any wax cylinders laying around there is also a more modern option.

The iHorn works with your iPad or iPhone and harnesses the acoustics of the old radio horn via Bluetooth. $589 from Old Time Computer.

    Double Duty

This retro-styled AM/FM radio doubles as a speaker for your portable devices. And – bonus – it comes in four candy colors. Crosley Songbird Radio / Speaker, $50 at Urban Outfitters.

    Nose News

The Hanaga Tap Nose Outlets turns a horizontal outlet into a vertical outlet. I’m not sure why you would need to do that, but it looks pretty hilarious. $35 each.

    Swansea Beach Radio

This nifty retro radio doubles an iPod speaker. It opens up to reveal an iPod dock inside. And, unlike most design-centric speakers I’ve seen, this actually has decent ratings from customers. $39 from Anthropologie.

    The Fox and the Sound

West Elm has some cute new stuff in their Winter catalog, the most awesome of which is this ceramic fox speaker for your iPhone. I may have to swing by and pick one up on my way home. Too cute.

    Monday Distraction: The Waterproof Planetarium

A waterproof globe that can project light into the room or into the tub itself. Totally useless and yet totally amazing. Via Japan, of course. :)

    Top o’ the Morning

A refreshingly low-tech way to start your morning – the stove-top espresso machine looks much less likely than the average espresso machine to a) explode; b) confound me, or; c) attempt to take over the world.

    DIY Potato Chips

Well, this is dangerous. You can now make your own potato chips in the microwave. Simply slice potatoes and zap them on the tray. The good news – these chips have a lot less fat.

    Wake-Up Call

The Alarm Dock turns your iPhone into a vintage-inspired alarm clock. Very pretty.
