    I Was Tagged!

Tagyourit I am coming over to Shak In Style today because I was tagged here. Are you familiar with Blog Tag? I was not until I found out it was my turn!

I wrote a post here Featured Squidoo Lens: Organizing A Room and was tagged by a commenter. Here is what he said:

"I am tagging you so readers are coming to see Seven Weird or Random facts about the author of this blog! We can’t spend all of our time on StumbleUpon right? You can see the post on my blog Virginia Breeze and have a great day."

Here are the rules of this blog tag game:

Post these rules on your blog.
List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.
Tag seven random [?] people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting on comment on their blog.

    1) My favorite candy is a Snickers bar. It MUST be eaten the same way every time. First I eat the chocolate off of the sides of the candy bar. Then I eat the chocolate from the bottom of the candy bar and also from the top. This leaves the nougat and the peanuts. The nougat is eaten first and the peanuts last. I have done this since I was a child. The person who tagged me loves Snickers Ice Cream Bars apparently. By the way, these must be eaten in the same manner!

    2) When I was a child, I believed that Dracula lived in a picture that hung in my basement. The picture was not scary, it was of a house at the end of a road. I don’t know why I believed that Dracula lived in the picture, but no one could convince me otherwise!

    3) My family used to go camping to a place called Buggs Island. We went there year after year and loved it. There is a little graveyard there inside the campground. The first time I saw the grave of Little May Land, I was convinced that I was her reincarnated. (I used to read a lot of horror books back then!) To be honest, I still think that!

    4) I am a Day’s Of Our Lives junkie! I have watched the show since I was a kid. I tape it every day and watch it every evening.

    5) I love Nascar! I acquired the love for it two years ago. Prior to that, I couldn’t understand how anyone could watch cars going around in a circle. I happened to win a bet which paid me $90 and I was hooked after that. Congratulations to my drive Jimmie Johnson! Go #48!!!!!

    6) My son and my husband have a joke about me. They claim that if I stay up past midnight, I will explode. I admit that I am not a night owl. I used to be but having children has made me tired! At the end of the day, I am ready for bed. BUT, give me a party and I am one of the last people standing!

    7) I am happy to say that I am typing this without the aide of glasses or contacts. I had laser eye surgery back in April and it was a huge success!!!!

I had to tag seven other blogs in this game. Here I go!

    Kerith at The Flugpo Blog

Peter Morrow at Peter Morrow’s Online Money

Jack Payne at Six Hours Past Thursday

    Kristina at Mama Divas

    Jon at  Freelance Folder

    Scott at  Father Speak

Shakadoo’s very own Kathylynn at Love Shak, Baby

That completes my game of blog tag! It was really fun!

    Hue: Coloring Book Contest

Do you want to try something fun? Do you secretly wish you could color with your 3 year old but shy away from Barney or Mickey? Well, here is something just for us adults that will bring out the creativity in  you! Rachel, over at Hue, is having an adult coloring contest……..

"If you use Photoshop, or other photo-editing program, try your hand at
coloring one of these rooms. If you’re not particularly computer-savvy,
feel free to color in the more traditional format, with crayons, pens,
etc. You can print out the image, color to your hearts delight, then
scan it back into your computer and email it to me at
rachel.perls[at]gmail[dot]com. Use your imagination- the sky is the
limit. No need to add elements, just add color to the pieces in the
    photo of your choice."

Rachel is going to post the beautiful submissions that she receives and there just might be a little something for the best submission. Cool!

Personally, I love the color white and would love to live in a room that is totally white. Here’s what Rachel has to say about white:

"Facts in white: contrary to popular opinion, decorating your space in
all white is anything but soothing and neutral. The human eye sees pure
white as a brilliant color, and the highly reflective quality of white
can cause glare, in turn causing eye strain and headaches. Not too
soothing, right? White jumps out at you just as any other bright color
does. It can be perceived as cold, sterile and stark. So, that sparked
my idea about the coloring book. These images are just screaming to be

For all the pictures you can color and more details about Photoshop, check out Rachel’s post on her "Coloring Book Contest" and may the best colorer win!

A Reminder About The Eight Step Home Cure

Today’s the day! Hop on over to Apartment Therapy to begin the Eight Step Home Cure.  You will need to pick one room of your house or the whole thing (if you’re brave) and be ready with some authentic elbow grease. Evidently there is little or no financial investment involved in the "Cure", although it is a good idea to pick up a copy of Apartment Therapy (the book).

According to Maxwell, at AT New York, there is already a lively discussion going on and a team is forming for this group interior decor adventure. I am so ready! I just bought some new bedroom furniture and I need to know what to accent the room with, what color to paint and how to tie it all in to the bathroom. Help, AT!

If you want to catch up on some of their past Cures and how they work, check out the Book Blog. They also recommend signing up with flickr, if you have not done so already, and any picture set that is tagged with "apartmenttherapycure" may possibly be linked to their posts. Cool! You might even get to see my new bedroom furniture.

    Beach Blanket Bingo

Episode 3 of Top Design was tropical, fanciful, and whimsical, and yet left me wanting more. I think because the challenge was a bit more awkward due to the fact that the nine finalists were put into groups of three and I felt like I spent more time watching the groups try and "work" together as opposed to experiencing each of their individual talents as in the weeks prior. Summer bummer.

Each beach cabana was unique and exotic in its own way but clearly the judges were disappointed in all three to some degree. Holly, at Decor8 was just glad that the challenge took place on the beach and not in the Pacific Design Center. Although I will say, I do enjoy watching them shop with loads of money in that place.

Franki, from Life In A Venti Cup has jumped on the Top Design Bandwagon and is totally hooked. Even though the show in itself still falls short in some areas, Franki comments in her blog, that you can’t deny the talent of the off-screen designers that are involved in the show, especially that of Jonathan Adler…..

"Jonathan has taken quite a bit of heat (as have all the judges) for
being less than warm to the competitors. But in the end I applaud his bravery for blogging
and sharing experiences that viewers don’t get to see. The camera may
well add 10 pounds, but TV show editors posses the power to add 10
times the drama. Why else would we watch?"

In light of all the "poor" decorating choices the designers made in this episode, I suggest they spend their next shopping spree at the Jonathan Adler Mega Sale going on now until February 24th. Decor8 says, "hurry"! Frank says, "scandalously low prices for tabletop couture." Shakinstyle says, "see ya later, decorator, I’m off to the sale"…..
