    DIY Ribbon Holder

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen old fashioned candle sticks displayed in anyone’s home. Where I do find them is in every thrift store in town. Which makes these DIY ribbon holders the prettiest way to upcycle those old clunkers. Find the complete DIY instructions here.

    Urb Garden

This vertical garden doesn’t just grow herbs, it also composts food scraps with a little earthworm farm and, when mixed with water, creates liquid fertilizer that helps the plants grow.

    What’s Old is New Again

LG’s new TV is actually totally old school. Not only does it have a retro look, it’s actually a CRT - complete with rabbit ears and those old-fashioned knobs for changing the channel. You can even switch between color and black and white. It’s pretty, but kind of impractical.

    Happy Tape

I recently used masking tape to hang art in my dining room. My only disappointment - I didn’t know I could have hung the art with Happy Tape. This Japanese-made paper tape is now available in the US and even has an entire blog dedicated to Happy Tape projects and crafts.

    Eggsellent

I’m not sure under what circumstances I would need to keep eggs cozy, but seeing these felt egg cosies kind of makes me want to invent one.

    Lightbulb Moment

This Pocket Light is so cool. The flip-up light bulb is powered by a tiny battery cell and the whole thing is just the size of a credit card. Originally designed by Hyun Jin Yoon and Eun Hak Lee, the design has apparently been ripped-off by and produced by an unlicensed manufacturer. Pretty Uncool. Get the whole story here.

    A Little Bit Sketchy

I am a terrible artist. The only thing my fingers are good for is typing (and accidentally cutting while cooking). So I am very tempted to get this 1926 guide to sketching animals. I love the simple sketches and I think I might be able to draw them, given the proper tutelage. If not, the book would look really pretty on my coffee table.

    We Have a Problem

Meet the Mini Cupcake Maker. It makes seven mini cupcakes in just five minutes. To make things worse, it’s only $33. Buy at your own risk.

    If Ain’t Baroque…

I love baroque when it’s in a European cathedral, but it’s a little too much when it comes to decorating my own home. But I recently noticed a little mini-trend of baroque-mirrors-made-modern, and I’ve got to say I could see putting one of these in my dining room.

    Above: Ornate Edge Mirror, $99

I particularly like this over-sized multi-colored version, which, as Happy Mundane suggested, would make a great DIY project. And though it’s much less impressive in scale, this $120 version from Target is cheep enough for me to feel comfortable painting up.

    Through the Looking Glass

Pottery Barn is still having their winter sale. It’s mostly picked-over, but I did find this space-saving full-length mirror that reverses to reveal a full set of storage shelves. I love the space-saving swivel pole (though that does mean they recommend it be installed by a professional).
