With the cold weather approaching (and in many places already here), I’ve been thinking more and more about creating a nice, warm reading nook. Especially since reading the article on the same topic in this month’s Domino.
I was looking at the Urban Outfitters site this afternoon and I found this
Midcentury chair for $300. I thought it might go nicely with a contrasting lamp, like the Script floor lamp from CB2, which is only $79.95.
If you haven’t started decorating for Halloween, not to fear. It’s not to late. In fact, it’s just the right time to get some great deals.

For example, I noticed today that Pottery Barn has marked down a lot of their Halloween decor for final sale.
Bone Candle Holders, $9.99
Archer Pillar Holders, $24.99-$32.99

Domino has a great feature about perfect chair / lamp pairings in this month’s issue (read it online here).
I particularly like this bold coupling on a classic red leather chair and a very modern yellow lamp. But at $1700 for the chair and $2125 for the lamp, it’s a pricey look.

But I think I’ve found a possible alternatives for both pieces.
CB2 has a nice chartreuse floor lamp for $199 that brings the same feel on a slightly smaller scale.
The chair was harder to match. The piece pictured here, from Nathan Turner, was competitive with chairs from retailers like Pottery Barn and William Sonoma Home. the most important thing is the color. And while I could find traditional tufted leather chairs, the cherry red was hard to match.

If you aren’t married to the exact style of the chair above, a cheaper option is this red Barcelona chair and ottoman for $720.

Or this customizable Redgrave chair from Ethan Allen, which starts at $939. I’d assume they have a red fabric that might be affordable, but they didn’t have swatches available online.
Oooh, I went to Barbra Ziemer’s etsy page to find some delicious new fine art photography! From amazing black and whites like the one pictured here- Abbey Walk- to the autumn inspired Ecstatic, there’s lots of new beautiful photography to covet! Go check it out!
