The Kitchen Designer is the blog of Susan Serra, CKD (Certified Kitchen Designer). Her hope is to provide insight into the process of kitchen redesign, and she is succeeding. The site is a great resource for photos of beautiful new kitchens and tips about the latest and greatest resources and materials.
When I found Susan’s site, it was immediately inspired by the clean but cozy feel of the kitchen pictured above left. The center island looks like an antique table from a French country home and really warms up the stark white cabinets and subway tile back-splash.

I was also drawn to this amazing black cabinet, and th dark wood cabinets in this modern kitchen. I think the lesson I’ve learned is that I love open shelving with white dinnerware on display. Too bad my china is green.

Look for more of Susan’s great ideas over at Shakhammer as she will be one of our newest bloggers in the shak family.
