2007 looks to be the year that green-design goes mainstream. I read last week on Apartment Therapy that Crate and Barrel’s new Lockport collection, consisting of an Apartment Sofa ($1999) and a chair ($1199) is constructed completely of sustainable materials.
I also got a press release this morning announcing the NYC arrival of MUJI, an environmentally-sound retailer based in Japan. Their US flagship store in the New York Times Building will open for the 2007 holiday season. Their products include furniture, linens, housewares, accessories, and beauty products. Check out more of MUJI’s eco-minimalist designs on their UK site here.
