Decor8 has put together a potpourri of decor and design books that are a must have for any homeowner’s design library. Every book that Holly has listed has a brief description and is linked to Amazon and available for purchase. Over 50 beautiful creative books and timeless decorating ideas are to be had when you enter in to Holly’s on line library.
Becky, at Hatch: the Design Public Blog, makes no bones about the fact that no one should enter in to this library if you don’t want to be tempted to buy a whole bunch of design books….
"It started for me with Mid-Century Modern, a Holly rec, which then led me over to Fifties Furniture by Paul McCobb: Directional Designs, and after that it was Eichler: Modernism Rebuilds the American Dream."
One book that is not on the list,
and think it should be (if I may be so bold) due to its unique
diversity and ornamental beauty, is recommended by Maryam of My
Marrakesh, called Moroccan Interiors.
"This book explores contemporary interiors in the sun-soaked land that
stretches from the Sahara to the Mediterranean: Morocco." I bought this
book after reading about it on Maryam’s blog and it does a fantastic
job of showing the country’s colorful palette while maintaining a
modern look at worldwide decor trends. One of Maryam’s readers writes:
"Moroccan Interiors not only gives a wonderful
background to the structure and architecture of Morocco, but also
intertwines the reader in the ways of Moroccan culture and hospitality.
It then proceeds to whisk you away on a private tour of eight cities
through out the country."
I would like to get my
hands on Mid Century Modern and as it is set up I can just order
through Decor8 and it takes me to the check out page at Amazon. Now
that’s just flat out dangerous, but alas, very convenient!
