A cartwheel, a flip on the diving board, even a train passing by gets kids easily excited. But once adulthood sets in, excitement is harder to come by. I don’t know if that’s because as we age we think we’ve seen it all (and in some circumstances we have) or because it takes something really interesting to get our attention. Whatever the case may be I have stumbled across a unique egg that is quite delectable.
Design Within Reach has recently filled a long awaited gap with the spectacular designs of Arne Jacobsen. His products are bringing the modern trends of the past to the sophisticated urbanism of today. He has done an outstanding job exhibiting this concept with the contemporary egg chair.
"The handcrafted Egg Chair is unique in that sitters can swivel toward the conversation area or away from others if privacy is desired. A tilt mechanism allows for relaxed lounging and the high back and curving elements are reminiscent of a traditional wing chair. Together they cocoon the sitter in a single-piece molded shell that appears to hover over the floor."
Designed almost 50 years ago, the egg chair is still used in advertising, film, and television as a symbol of modern city living. The bloggers at Pure Contemporary found that two of Jacobsen’s egg chairs were used for an episode of Nip/Tuck.
"The characters of the popular FX series “Nip/Tuck” live to achieve model perfection: chiseled features and figures, stylish spouses or significant others, and, über-chic furnishings."
This biomorphic Egg chair is so impressive; it speaks of comfortable power plays and provides the setting for stylish deal making when only perfect will do.
