    “My Prescription For Anti-Depressive Living”

    Adler
Okay, so maybe Zoloft, Prozac and all the others aren’t really the answer to the fact that adulthood has made us too serious or that our routines have allowed us to give up on our dreams of grandeur. But who knew? Evidently, Jonathan Adler knew and he has summed it up in a colorful, whirlwind of a book called "My Prescription For Anit-Depressive Living".

If the name is not enough to spark your interest, just open to page 1. You are enthusiastically met with bold colors and encouraging words that will lead you to believe that you can walk in your front door every day and feel happy. This book just so happens to be a "therapeutic intervention designed to rescue you from whatever decorating diseases you are struggling with."

Jonathan Adler does an utterly fantastic job of relocating the reader into a world of joy, abandon, and creativity within the decorating realm.  I’ve, personally, always been a minimalist; but Adler says, "bummer" to that!  He suggests, going for the gold, and the reds, purples, blues and whatever else makes you happy.  Go for the immoderate and inappropriate with panache. This does not mean fill your home with things that are uncomfortable or art you don’t like. Adler says, "coming home should be an antidote to the troubles and traumas of everyday life."

Becky at Hatch: The Design Public Blog has some of her favorite parts of Adler’s book that she anxiously waited until Christmas to receive. She loves the idea of naming her house something fancy and having towels embroidered or matchbooks engraved with catchy chic names like "chez B". I love it!  That is more than just a great idea it evokes the inner, carefree, child in you to be yourself and love the idea of who you are!

This book is without a doubt a "visual feast, jam-packed with images of interiors and objects for the home, both inspired by Adler and those that have inspired him." So pull up a chair and some eating utensils because you will want to dig right into this whimsical and simply delicious, banquet of decor.
