According to the Interior Design Show’s Trend Watcher blog, the hot, new, direction, in interior design and decor, seems to be that of eclecticism. The appeal of precisely matching one’s interior decor with color and pieces has diminished. By bringing together inspirations and patterns you create a hodgepodge of a perfectly acceptable "mishmash" trend.
Sarah at Modern Roost has been going for the eclectic look for some time. Not because it has been fashionable but because she is drawn to the colorful and comfortably full look of a room. The Trend Watcher says that many of the modern pieces we see today are designed to go with the "multicolored reality of most interiors."
Sarah is on the right track and if the minimalist in you needs to do some spring cleaning so be it. But don’t sacrifice what you love for an "impersonal-style shrine ripped from a catalog". Only an old-fashioned traditionalist would limit themselves to one type of design in today’s mix and match world of interior, fashion decor.
